CAIBLEADH: Spirit Voices From The Sea (2022)

heard from a distance on calm nights

Inspired by Manchan Magan's book "Sea Tamagotchi", a book of Irish coastal linguistic treasures, Caibleadh (pronounced KABLOO) was originally commissioned for Dublin St Patricks Parade 2022 and features Selkie, Sea God and Sea Serpent props and over 100 costumed performers from across Donegal.

As part of our Arts Council Arts Grant Funding for 2022 an additional merrow prop was created alongside some illuminated inflatable coral, radiolara lanterns and other creations which were first presented at Culture Night Letterkenny and Donegal Connect Festival in Swan Park, Buncrana in September 2022. The work was also presented at Halloween parades in Carndonagh and Derry in October of that year.

Caibleadh (pronounced KABLOO) means "spirit voices from the sea heard from a distance on calm nights"
