Culture Night/Donegal Connect

spirit voices from the sea

We were delighted to be presenting a sculpture and performance trail featuring work from our latest production "CAIBLEADH: Spirit Voices from the Sea at two events in September 2022.

On Culture Night, Friday 23rd September we presented our annual event in Letterkenny Town Park with performances by Fusion Events Letterkenny, Aislingi Dance, In Your Space Circus, Small but MAssive Samba Band and Mermaid Belleweather.

The next day we brought the show to Swan Park, Buncrana as part of the "Donegal Connect" festival programme with additional performances from local dance groups Studio 47 and Elite Dance Academy.

The event included large sea spirit characters (selkie, sea serpent, sea god and merrow), illuminated sculptures and performances by dance and street performers. The weather was as good as we could have possibly expected (one major rain shower in two days) and the crowds were many. Many thanks to all the performers, crew, stewards and event staff who made both shows possible.

Caibleadh (pronounced Kabloo) is a performance installation inspired by Manchan Magan’s book “Sea Tamagotchi” a collection of Irish linguistic coastal treasures.

This events were made possible with funding from Donegal County Council, Arts Council of Ireland and included work that was originally commissioned by St Patricks Festival Dublin.
